Yeah, she blew up pretty quick. So nice this weekend and looks like mid week will be nice at least in the gulf islands. Put your old prawn traps to work for one set!
Power out for about 4 hours midday. Went down to Pedder and checked Nooma about 1:30 when gusting way over 50 knots. Everything good. A couple of bridge enclosures snaps unsnapped. The dock boys said they were doing a dock walk every hour. All the other boats looked fine.
Nine years ago we moved into our current (no pun inteneded ) house and we immediatley lost power for over a day.
The next week we started the process to have a Natural Gas Back -up Generator installed.
It was money well spent. We live in North Van and have 4 or 5 generator "opportunities" a year.
Yesterday it was out for just over 13 hours
Power came back on at 3 am this morning. When I opened the front door (6 am) to get the paper I could still hear a few generators still running across the ravine from us.
When the families in the neighbourhood were much younger , on generator mornings the neighbours would show up with their crockpots.
It was great whe we got home from work that first time and stepped into the house with the delicious aromas of the mingling crock pots.
Then we realized we still had to make our dinner . We plan better these days.
