Vacuum Packaging in Sooke

I just purchased a proper commercial grade vacuum sealer out of Vancouver. The same unit that I'm used to operating while I'm up at Chinootka Lodge in Nootka Sound. This is a $6500 machine. I will have it set up at Mariner's Village in Sooke and will be offering this service to my own customers and will also be getting set up to offer it to the general public as well. Once set up I will offer vacuum packing, proper shipping boxes and ice. Vacuum packing at $1.50 a pound for incoming weight.

Today I loaded up 2 stainless cabinets, counter tops and my new commercial vacuum packing machine to the space at Mariner's Village where I will set up this new venture. Hoping to give my 17 year old a helping hand with his own business and a summer job. Spent the day cleaning everything and organized all the inventory and bits and pieces. Just a couple more odds and ends and an upright freezer and I should be ready to go. Oh and found out we need an electrician to change an outlet and breaker to a 20amp service before I can fire the new unit up. There is always a last minute snag.

We are now open from 11am till 5pm - 7 days a week. Commercial grade vacuum packing with 5mil bags. Fish will last up to 2 years. I have 3 pieces left from last July and they are still perfect! We are located in the presentation parking lot, front side of the house at Mariner's Village at the corner of Sooke and Church Rd's. (at the light) Price is $1.50 per pound on the incoming weight. Your fish must be cleaned and portioned to fir our 3 sizes of bags. Bags available to choose from are 8.6 X 12.3 12 X 16 and 11 X 27.3 the smallest bag will be more of a bottomfish fillet bag. The middle bag is ideal for larger springs with fillets halved (4 pieces per fish) and the largest bag is best suited to whole fillets off of medium sized springs or for whole Coho, Pinks and Sockeye. (heads off)
Vacuum packing includes free freezing and if you live in Victoria we can bring the the frozen fish in to town the next day so you can pick up the finished product in Victoria.
My son Brett and his friend Brandon are running the shop and this is a first job for both of them. Both are 17 years old with one more year of high school to go. Hope many of you will support this new venture so it stays around as a permanent service for those of us fishing the Sooke area. Might even be more convenient for those fishing renni to drop off in Sooke and then pick up the fish in Victoria the next day after it has frozen up.
