Ukee Police & DFO Presence

Just a Head's Up to those who might be fishing the Ukee / Sound areas the next while...

For the past week there has been a HUGE presence of RCMP, Parks & DFO presence both out on The Pond, in the Harbor and Dockside. They are targeting on every single sport rig they run across - looks to be some kind of training mission of sorts.

Got pulled over for the standard equipment / papers / license / barbless check near Swale the other day, and Buddies have had the same (some actually boarded) from as far as Long Beach down to the whole of the Sound. Ladz I ran into were quite courteous, and went about their business quickly with a friendly attitude. Of course we to were polite and accommodating, smiling and joking with them as we reminded tham that slack tide was nearly upon us.

Good idea to run over all of your equipment and paperwork if wandering out there! They will be on the prowl for the Bad Actors (nailed a few already! Good Work Gentz!) for the next little while...

Heard it was a 4 to 5 day blitz to catch the rule breakers plus safety checks that has come to a close as of today. I'm sure they will continue to be out but periodically and only the local RCMP boat like every summer season.

We were checked last Friday near China Creek by the Port Alberni police in their zodiac. Interesting enough, checked only paper work as we were running in from a three day fishing trip.
