UFO? Lost Cold War nuclear weapon? Canada's navy to investigate object found off B.C. coast

There is a book named LOST NUKE--The Last Flight of Bomber 075 written by Dirk Septer in 2012 that has detailed info of the crash. The plane actually crashed in the mountains above the Kispiox valley .... But the crew bailed out over Princess royal island.. So how did it manage to turn around and fly over 200 miles with no pilot? Its an interesting read.............

Ooops- I didnt read the CBC story that AA posted before I wrote the above....

Hahaha, the navy will check it out in a couple of weeks. Almost as fast as our 'world class oil spill response'!

Price you pay for scrimping on Coast Guard and National Defence spending I guess? No one wants to spend the money for them, until of course you need them

Shi... happens. Here is a video that has another nuk near miss.
It's all in the first 6 minutes so feel free not to watch the rest as I'm not trying to make a point, it's just something I ran across the other day.

Good point Ziggy!

The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) HAD a plan to replace the fleet in the late 1980s, but 1n 1994 (after the Jean Chrétien's Liberals got elected in '93) - the federal government then announced that it was transferring responsibility for CCG from the Department of Transport to DFO. The reason for placing CCG under DFO was supposedly to achieve "cost savings". The CCG now became ultimately responsible for crewing, operating, and maintaining a larger fleet—both the original CCG fleet before 1995 of dedicated SAR vessels, NAVAID tenders, and multi-purpose icebreakers along with DFO's smaller fleet of scientific research and fisheries enforcement vessels, all without any increase in budget- in fact the overall budget for CCG was decreased after absorbing the DFO patrol and scientific vessels.

Well - that screwed the replacement plan...

I know they are separate ministries with separate budgets, but still: how much cash could we free up by ending the pointless F18 operations in Syria? I'm in favour of taking in refugees, but not in favour of creating more by continuing to bomb their homes.

I believe they ended last February

That is wonderful! Happened when I was in Mexico and I never heard about it. Our effort there had little effect and zero necessity. The Harper government pestered the Americans for a spot on the team, so I'm glad to see the new govt stepped away from this needless militarism.
