Just returned last night from our trip, so for anyone heading there or interested here is our report! Sorry I never met up with you Krazy Norwegian, I did look for your boat and had no luck. Thankfully that wasn't the case as far as fishing was concerned. The biggest thing I noticed was the fish were smaller than usually caught this year, perhaps the big migrating fish may have been late. The biggest was only 28 lbs, however the 15-25 lb fish were in abundance. It was a bit tougher this year as we had to search harder to find them, but when we did get into them the fishing was great! There were 6 newbies with this year that have never fished for salmon before and when all was done each and everyone of them had caught fish bigger than anything they had ever caught before, including my young nephews of 10 and 13 years of age. The same gear as other years worked well, but the hot hook was the Super Trooper coyote spoon that nailed the 3 biggest springs. I did have 2 really large springs break my 40 lb leaders when they came up jumping like crazy and landed on the line, snapping it. One I guessed at about forty lbs as it was only about 15 ft. from the boat when it gave me this show! All in all it was a great trip with no shortage of fish numbers, and anyone looking for a place to go I highly recommend this area with or without a guide. The weather was a bit rougher so we only were out from 5-8 miles offshore.
