It is an interesting size category but having just moved from a 542 to a Gulfstream, they are worlds apart. Anything over a 0.5' chop in the 542 was not comfortable, the deck space, although probably the biggest in the 18' class, was still crowded with 3 guys and trying to negotiate 10'6" rods/net was a headache. The Gulfstream handles 2-3' chop really well, the deck space is amazing and have easily fished 4 guys on it, it definitely wouldn't be an ideal boat for camping on, but you definitely could. As for cruising, my family (wife and two young kids have done lots of little cruising trips around the island and really enjoyed it.. enough space to BBQ/hang out on the deckI fished out of a trophy 25 a couple of trips in Haida Gwaii. Lovely smooth riding hull but doesn't use its space very efficiently for fishing. Helm is right on midship so the dance floor is pretty cramped compared to other 25-26' hulls. Best for 2, OK with 3, very tight for 4.
If you're a keen bottom fisher, it would be good. But if mostly intended for salmon trolling, it's limiting.
Maybe I'm biased, as I find the entire 23-25 ft category confusing. Too small for cruising and camping, too big to be anything but a fuel guzzler for fishing.
