Toquaht Wilderness Resort

Thought I would post this up as we drove by it in the boat yesterday and it looks like a really nice spot. I will be keeping tabs on it during the summer and see how it is progressing. I might even take a drive out there next weekend.

I emailed them for a pricing package. It will be interesting to see what lot's are going for. They have RV sites as well so it might be quite affordable to get into. I like how there is going to be a marina so you can get there by boat from Alberni if you don't want to drive the road. Anyways looks interesting.

Cheers,
John

Looks very nice,
Pricing starts at $49,500
that must be an R.V. site ?

I'm thinking so as well. I'll let you know when I get the pricing package. If you have use of the marina and boat launch for that price and the taxes or strata isn't too bad then slap a good used Trailer with mega slide out and your set. There is a communal laundry room and showers etc. Looks interesting.

Never been to that neck of the woods, but would sure like to see it one day.
It's accessible by road from Ukie I guess ?

Looks like the place I saw last year up there, if so its right on the main drag just before or after Long Beach (Tofino side)

Why does everything always have to be "improved" if you call it that. What is wrong with the small campsite and rv park that already exists there? Toquart bay is a beautiful place with a remote nature feeling that is hard to find on the island without a long 4x4 drive in, but lets make it into a resort complex with hot stone massages and five star fine dining. Some things should be left rustic for people who enjoy the way the world used to exist just fine. There is always this story about the significance of the aboriginal people of the area but there is nothing unique about them selling off beautiful bc for a profit, its all over our history

We drove out there last week to see Pat about our reservation for Aug / Sept. The sales agent wasn't there but we did pick up their promo package. Great possibilities if they can pull it off in better fashion than the Salmon Beach developer did. Being the Crown Isle group it's hopeful. I'm looking for an RV lot with marina and this is at the top of the list. Please let us know what you hear, John.

This is far away from the original campground and boat launch. The old place is still the same.

I believe the Toquaht FN are partners in this development. Rustic and granola just don't pay the bills.
Re: Nostalgia around how it used to be - a much better development proposal than the log dump and sort that used to be there years ago (pilings are still there). There was a geoduck fishery out of there, too. Not so beautiful if you can remember back to those days.

John you should just join there sales team.. that way you can make a few bucks and cuts us a good deal on a few RV lots... Im interested aswell but might hold out for a lot in Town of Ucluelet instead...

I came real close to buying a Salmon Beach lot last year... so much to consider, nice to have a marina, thats really what Salmon Beach is missing... or at least a better launch...

Yup that is the only real downside to Salmon Beach is lack of marina and the taxes. If this new development has lower strata / taxes then it would be something to look into for sure. I don't know if they are free hold or strata. At Salmon Beach you own the dirt and get title to that particular piece of land (your lot). I liked that when I bought it. I didn't like the jump in taxes over the last 3 years. They did go down this year so time will tell.

Anyways you can just ask them on the site for a pricing package. I still haven't seen anything yet. Maybe tomorrow.

I received this from Carla Coulson, today:

Dear Jim,

Thank you for your interest in Toquaht Wilderness Resort. We are planning on staffing a sales centre at the Campground a little later in the summer when the area is a bit more populated.

We will not have the RV lots available this year, and as of yet have not finalized any pricing. There will be an amenity building for the RV site owners which will include some basic amenities which have yet to be confimed.

If you would like to provide me with your mailing address, I would be happy to send you a complete package and can indicate the area that the RV sites are to be situated.

Sincerely,
Carla Coulson-Prieto

Would defiantly consider a purchase in this venture @ Toquaht wilderness resort is the would put some coin in the drive in access............dam billy goat trail!!

4 years ago, just when the marina had purchased the floating walkway of a scuttled fish farm as their marina fingers. I went to an Isl just in front of Toquaht that was crear-cutted & chopped into acreage for 10 grand ea. but the only ones available was lowland swamps & stump filled .............so I decided nay!!!
But I still say this area is a diamond in the ruff in a beautiful country
