Time to stand up for ourselves

I was going to go, but it's starting to look more like a spectacle than an information / action planning meeting.

I still plan on going to the Langford meeting

Not looking too strong judging from the lack of engagement

I assume many of you know but just in case you don't - there is a thread on the proposed SRKW area management (closures) for 2026 and the Town Hall Meetings in Duncan tomorrow and Langford on Nov 13th

Not sure if that is why it may look like there is a lack of engagement ( that is, if you were referring to this SFBC thread here )

Because the proposed closure goes right up past Ucluelet I figured more people would get alarmed.

Anyways, I’m going to try and get some information

Everyone should google up some research done on causes of the demise of SRKW. I thought it interesting. Shortage of salmon was not the issue. #1 was inbreeding.
#2 was marine traffic, not necessarily collisions, but noise, effecting whale communications while they hunt. Maybe I'm dragging another industry under the bus, but we all see who literally makes a business of staying close to whales. The whale chasing industry needs to be on the table as well.

I don't think, "The only good seal is a dead seal," rhetoric, which I heard, loud and proud. is going to win us any points with the general public, regardless of any truth in it.

See you Thursday in Langford.
