Tent Island and area on Saturday

What should I be putting down for a bit of fishing in the area. I am new to this area do I do the same as I do for the winters off the South Island?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Richard

Find the winters then drop anything......

someone was out there yesterday, caught 3 nice fish before 10:30 AM....try the channel between Tent and the Light rocks...10 feet off the bottom...usually 100 ft. in 110 to 130 feet of water. This time of year they ( the fish) are looking for 3 to 3 1/2 inch herring.

One small one released ( about 18'' and hatchery) and one other solid hit and long line released. Slow day for me. Really foggy today, went everywhere on the GPS. Anyone else have any luck?

Because the prawns were closed in the area we went to neck point and dropped the traps there. No luck on the Prawns and did not drop the salmon gear due to fog and avaoiding more navigation issues.

We were at Tent today, 10: AM to 1:30 PM and the whole time on GPS...thought I was fishing out of Renfrew it was so foggy ( and cold!) We fished the 130 Ft. contour with riggers at 140 and used 3 inch glow spoons ( CJ Specials) along with a 31/2 inch Irish Cream lure. We released three undersize juveniles, and three really decent hits but could not keep them on...one was a nice size peeling out line for a while. Bite was about 11:00 to 12:00 for us.

i was out last thursday;
prawns are awesome
crabbing sucked at bare point
trolled around for 3 hours infront of tent, 1 solid hit but didnt stick. a little bit of bait showing on the sounder
ran over to a secret fishing hole nearby :D picked up a 8-9lber.
typical gulf island fishing i guess
