I agree. Did you have to do a stability test or did you supply a IMCI.org Doc stating the boat is certified? I read this on this forum awhile back and wonder if TC does accept this.
Not sure if your 22 Grady will be 4.1 tons. I have a 25 Sailfish and it came in at 3.82 tons. As long as you are under the magic 5 ton mark you will be ok.

Ya, that is with twin 150 Yamaha 4-strokes and gas. I had a survey done on the boat and those were the numbers he came up with and the ones I have on my regisitration and that I sent into TC with my self inspection and stability test.
Has nothing to do with weight guys, its volumetric tons so doesn't matter if if gas is in or not. Our 27ft Grady came in at 4.6 or 4.7 tons if my memoery serves me right! So the 22 will be fine...prob about 3.5ish.
I think it has to be around 3. My Grady 265 Express pictured below is 4.89. Just under the wire, and what pushes it up there is the beam at 9' 8". Don't count the bow sprit either, as this does not affect volume of water displaced.
It is based on a calculation of the internal volume. Weight as measured by running over the scales has nothing to do with it at all. Just use the simplified method on the TC material they sent you, and all will be fine.
Sheesh, I'm glad I don't have to mess with that!
I just checked... and would be over 5 tonne, if I figured right?
TML 8.66 X TMB 3.15 X TMD 1.22 X .16 GTC = 5.32 GT?
Oh, if you have a Seafarer
I think these numbers will match your boat? [?]
I am guessing - but should be close, if I am figuring this right?
These measurements came from Grady’s website… and I am flat out guessing your TMD!
TML 6.76 X TMB 2.44 X TMD? 1 X .16 GTC = 2.630 GT?
I'd say his TMD is larger just because it has to go all the way up to the railing...on our grady I measured it out around 2m I think...it wasjust under i THINK...don't remember exactly but i remember it being a bit more than 1m and I'm fairly sure the 22 Grady wouldn't have that much of a smaller depth.
I used top of Gunnel too. I was well over 4 GT on the 24 Osprey due to the high freeboard and 22.5 deg deadrise. Bottom of the keel to the top of Gunnel amidship.
What I did was put a 10 ft 2x4 under the boat and wedged in so that it couldnt move and was level then he(TC inspector)did all the measurements from there,as he did a on land inspection and on water inspection and like justin was just under the 5 T and its only a 26 ft boat.
I wanted to be absoultlly sure that why I got him to do it all.
