Just heard this.
It's north of Engelfield.
Anyone been there or heard stories?
Looks fishy anyways.

Fished it about 15 years ago. OBMG used to have one of their floating ship-lodges in the bay behind the island. Most outstanding fishing I have ever experienced in mid August that year. We did most of our fishing in the protected waters behind the island and got loads of everything from big chinooks and coho, huge halibut, ling and snapper.

Been to Hippa twice with the old Charlotte Explorer.

Some decent fishing quite close by and some truly awful</u> weather I mean frightening.

I wonder about moving the lodge there I thought Tasu was zhit hot fishing these past few years [?]

i think the last two years have actually been ****ty, not **** hot.

dark times when one thinks of what once was.

i wonder what led to the move? it is a bit of a run to the fishing grounds... and you are either totally exposed when you get through the gap or you are right in the sound and not really on the coast... there is no half and half.

i'd love to see hippa though.

Frankly I'm not surprised. As productive as Tasu was, there aren't too many places to hide if the weather gets nasty, especially if you need to travel up or down the coast to get to the fish. A few years ago while helping out with the WCR tournament, I was told that while Tasu had a bigger chance of getting the derby winning fish, the weather may prevent you from fishing. At least with Englefield, you have Bone Pt. or Denham Bay to fish if the wind kicks up.

Tasu guests have been getting s*** kicked by weather for years and keep coming back.
Last couple years were slower for salmon and the critter pressure was huge.
Time to move on.

I run the floating ship/lodge that is already at Hippa and have been there for a number of years. Fishing is great there but if WCR is moving to get more protected waters there in for abig surprise.

I knew there was an operation there couldn't remember the name.

As you say (is your name Ed BTW?) it's no place for the faint hearted, I wonder how much actual scouting they did before deciding on the move?

One time on the old Explorer it got so nasty so quick the fishmaster, a guy named Ian Speirs, only had time to corral the few boats on the water in front of Hippa and race around the back (east side and tuck into shore before the storm hit.

They were tucked into shore/tied off together/hiding for hours</u> it was just too wild/rough/dangerous to make the 5 minute trip into Nesto Inlet where the ship was moored, 2 of the guests were on their honeymoon![:o)]
