you'll still catch pinks but you'll be able to have your gear back in the water faster and fishing again. Or if you get a short bite from a pink on your spoon it's still fishing properly, instead of dragging around an anchovy that's messed up.
I run my gear deeper if I start getting tons of them. They are usually right underneath them. Not always but sometimes.. At least that is what I find...Been getting a few springs in the 140-150 feet mark right off bottom just this past week.
If you think about its an easy meal to sit underneath a school of pinks as they break up bait... Also I noticed the andrew P spoons the pinks don't take that much and the springs like them... Avoid the blood nose teasers they are worst I find...
