Sticky Drag on Islander MR3 Reels

Have used MR3 reels for the last couple of seasons and have only one issue with them.
I find that after loosening the drag knob the spools tend to stick until I give them a tug.
Is this normal ?
The reels are rinsed out in freshwater after every daily use and are kept lubricated.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Found a similar prob sometimes with the MR3's we use. Sometimes when I adjust the knob the drag tension feels no different until after I either pull abit of line or take line in. Its become habit now....adjust the drag, take in a full turn of line...sometimes I find the Islanders almost too sensitive and a times prefer the basic reliable drag of an M1 or GT4000...

I have noticed a bit of a problem with the MR3 and I must admit I kinda miss the 4000. When that happens too often I just pop off the spool-wipe the drag clutch or cork-reapply a little of the special lube-work it in-usually doesn't need any more graphite because I believe the stickiness is caused by the oil gradually evaporating or drying leaving only the graphite build -up. Usually do it twice during the season-then a full servicing at the end.
