Anyone ever catch a Steelhead in the saltchuck? I've heard that beach casters in Washington target them specifically. I believe on of the main spots for doing this is Bush Point on Whidbey Island. Any similar location like this in BC?

i don't know any spots but i have heard of them being caught in the chuck. i know a guide who has only ever caught 2 in the ocean and they were both in the same day, a little wierd eh?

Thanks Captain Dudds

only one ive ever caught in the salt was last september on a commercial troller. We were just north of Esperanza. Never heard of anyone specifically targetting them anywhere around here.

Yes it's popular down here.they prefer gravel beaches no seaweed. The island should be ideal, lots of steelie rivers. high tide cast bright color spin-n glows pinks chartruse etc.then trail a pink hootcie between the lure and hook use a couple of beads to seperate, these fish all tend to hug the shore ten to twenty ft.at most.try an12-18 inch drop sinker just to tap bottom.mabe that will help.

thanks the runt
