I just noticed that to... they deleted the thread from Wolf "What is up with Sportfishingbc?" Why don't they delete the halibut add on the home page instead?
Back stabbers ! They have tried to hide the halibut add also it seems... some times it does not show up.. but if you hit refresh many times it will eventually show up ! Very slimy !
I won't share any of my fishing reports or share any knowledge on this site till that add is GONE! OUT To !! off to http://www.fishingvancouverisland.org/forum/

Halibut quota purchase ad still up.
Yes, isn't that nice. They took Wolf's thread down, I believe that it was very close to or just over 2000 views in less than 24 hours. Obviously, goes to show that this is a very serious issue to many on this site. Lots of people have now left the site to join other sites. This is a sad day here for the sake of a couple of hundred dollars???? What ever the money amount is, is not the point, it is the principle of taking and running that particular ad on a site that so dedicated to sport fishing. The thought that anyone on here would be receptive of that ad, well obviously there was not much thought there other than for the money to run the ad.
If you are not sure what we are talking about here, go to the Sport FishingBC Home page:
http://www.sportfishingbc.com/index.html and on that page you will find the ad for purchasing halibut quota, yes that is what I said, and ad promoting the purchase of Halibut Quota from Commercial Quota Holders. Now the trick here is that if you go to the home page from this forum you will not see the ad, they have blocked it from view via this forum link. However if you click on one of the other tabs on that page and then go back to the home page (you may have to try a couple of times) Voila, there it is in all of it glory. The link I have included does show the ad I believe.
The Administrators have been asked to remove the ad as many of us find it to be a slap in the face to the people that are supporting this site. They did respond, but in defense of the ad, and they have not removed it, instead they removed Wolf's whole thread on the issue. This thread will likely be removed soon also. With a heavy heart, I have decided that I will not be making regular contributions to this site until that ad is completely removed and an apology is put forth to everyone.
I will be participating at this forum for general discussions: http://www.bcfishingreports.com/forums/forum.php this seems to be where a lot of the people that have already left, have gone to. A great forum with the same type of format as this one. I will also be using this site for fishing reports: http://www.zurtrolures.ca/reports/ another great site, if you have not seen it, check it out now before they delete this thread too. Sign on and make some reports.

SO why would they delete it??? call them out and this is what they do for me who have posted soo many yep lack of respect im sure this one will be as well all i can say is you are a coward for doing this to all!!!! and my offer still stands REPLACE it and ill pay for my ad ..... or will you answer that question or delete me!!!!! im so pissed off!!!!!

And frankly, Admin, I think you could bring a little more analysis to bear on the issue of who you allow to advertise. Surely you do exercise some discretion? Or maybe just charge more to more contentious advertisers? Maybe you could start a bidding war between the 88 and the 12 to see who is willing to pay more, then run their adds. Or maybe run both and really clean up. Or why not just buy some hali quota, lease it out to sporties, and fund the site that way. Or you could do something really outlandish: identify your principals and stand by them.

There has been no censorship of SFBC, and when the owners are back at it this week, they have assured me they will be looking at this closer. TT, LC... I mod on one of the other bigger boards so I hear where you guys are coming from.
I also know that there should be a general contact between you guys and the owners..
They have F-ed up IMO.

Jeez, I go away for a few days and the war breaks out.
From what I'm gathering an ad on the parent board p'o'ed some members.
Well, wtf, sounds like Jerry Falwell and the old Moral Majority in the States threatening to pull ads and subscribers if a so called 'offensive' ad, program or news story appeared.
In a sense the main board, SportsfishingBC.com can be equated to the publisher, and so, to pay the bills, they accepted an ad.
They aren't supporting it, or supporting the 88/12 split.
So, .... what's the problem?
SFBC has provided a quality sandbox for the members to kick around in without loading the forum up with ads, (for comparison, see some of the American commercial boards, Ifish, Piscatorial Pursuits, Bloody decks etc.). I thank SFBC for keeping us clutter free.
It also appears the big protest thread started by Wolf was accidentally deleted by Last Chance.
Sounded like censorship by the boards owners but LC has clarified what happened and I thank him for that.
Perhaps. LC, you could have Chris reinstate the thread.

That's BS. I don't buy that for one sec. You did the exact same thing to one of Nogs election threads a month ago. One member got abusive and you deleted the thread instead of just the posts.

I too, will be standing by to see where this goes. Not that my participation counts for dick here, but it is the first fishing forum I ever joined and IMHO it has the largest body of quality and knowledgeable members out there. Kevin's site is great too, but the WSA was born of the great support I received here and it just don't make sense to quit it.

Seems like most of everybody has left already. Doesn't taking much to **** off fisherman. Sad really, this site was really turning into something good. Poor way of dealing with an easy situation, the loss of members and traffic will hurt this site far more than the minor advertising funds received from the one add. If they were in touch with the forum, they could of turned down the add before it ever went up. Customer is always right. The other site has been flooded with new members and traffic has rapidly decreased over here. I for one will move over as well as that is just a bad move and not supporting the people that make this site the way it is, is a poor business decision.

Ive been watching this from a distance as well. Lets step back and take a look at the real picture. What I see is this- times change, so do rules and regs. We dont have to like it or even agree with it, but sometimes we have to accept it. In this case, the law's already passed. Suck it up and move forward. Im still going fishing this summer and do what I love even if only for a short time. Im fully expecting some recourse to this post, but thats how I see it.
