personally i havent seen a decline on the south coast for me. But i guess its probably easier for fisherman to find fish what with all the technology thats available to us.
Your bang on hunter. the numbers have declined and it is with the aid of technology that we are able to keep our catches artificially high. This includes the commercial sector. As for letting big fish go it's a great idea. When we fish shallow we let the hogs go but when we fish deep we don't (1200+). I personaly feel that the big ones don't taste nearly as good as a 30-40.quote:Originally posted by hali hunter

gps and plotters...the fish don't stand a chance. One of my buddies in PR took a group out from Alberta. He didn't think much of it when they were playing with a handheld gps. That is until the next year they showed up on his spot with their own gear.quote:Originally posted by Thunder
What sort of techno gear are you talking about. I've used a sounder and a good anchor and that's about it and both those things have been around for years.

Interesting point , I have chartered a couple of times in new areas , brought my handheld gps as well , honestly , this is why we hired the guide , told him straight out before I booked ,learn the area , mark a few holes , asked the outfit first , they said they did not mind , or , were they just being nice ?? I don't believe they will take you to there honey hole , some input from you guides, how do ya feel about this , Honestly ?
Thanks , ,, FD![]()
