Any one from Prince George that could give me an idea of where I can find a lake where I can do some casting from shore? The only lakes that I can find and get to near here are lakes that need a boat.
Any lake names, areas or directions would be greatly appreciated.
Of course, I do not expect directions to your #1 or even #2 spots, I just want a place where the wife and I can go spend an afternoon for now, until we purchase a boat.
Thanks.[?]

I am an Island boy that went up to Chetwynd for some moose hunting just recently. I know zero about your local lakes but we caught a ton of grayling, rainbow and whitefish on flies in the local rivers (Pine R, Sukunka(?)R, etc) maybe that'd be easier?
We used mostly flies and small spinners on light spinning gear.

Hey Brian

I lived in PG for 17 yrs and a couple that come to mind are south of PG. The one I would recommend the most would be Genivieve Lake, it has recreational camping ( nothing but a spot to camp ). It is accessed from the highway south of PG and should be on a recreational map. I have gone there many times and fished the bite times from shore and landed many rainbows, at times on almost every cast, mostly 10=12 inch pan fries. The other i would try is the North end of Stony where the river runs out of the lake. Again ther is a recreational campsite on the opposite side of the river from the main access road that you can cast from shore. Not as productive as Genivieve but the chance for a bigger trout or laker. However I have been on the Island now for 10 yrs so all this may have changed?

I am an island boy as well, and just moved here. That is why I have spent the past 3 days driving the back roads looking for a some what easy access lake to fish on.

We live in PG and go fishing as often as we can. If you don't have a boat there are still some good places to fish. Narrow Lake you can catch rainbow and kokanee near the shore. It drops off very quickly. There ia a gravel bar to the left of the campites that is good to fish from. I would suggest places like where Hagen Creek meets the Bowron River and Avril Creek on the Fraser. Also check our website at http://www.northernalternatives.com where we document fishing in this area.

There are a few lakes out the Blackwater that can be productive from shore. West of P.G. Erickson, Nelson, Clear are all within a 30 minute drive of downtown and have fairly easy access. East of town Tabor, Tumuch chain (slim, papoose, pinkerton, tumuch 1 & 2). North the Crooked river is lake like in many areas and Tacheeda lakes can be very good from shore. South, Dragon of course, Hush, Chub and numerous other small lakes out the Buckhorn. Lots of places to fish from shore it is just hard to choose. Good luck.
