Spool on my 4000 blew up. I am need of a spool ASAP.
So, did it have backing on when it died? Could settle a debate from earlier this summer. I have a newish one with only a few trips on it, but I did put on some dacron.

It has nothing to do with backing there is a known flaw with a bunch of 4000 reels. Even if you and load the reel by hand Mono's memory after fighting some large and strong salmon the memory will cause the line to go back to the original everything. That is what causes the expansion that blows the spool. I have blown spools with and without backing. Don't think that this is a Shimano issue either. I have blown many of reels in many of ways. But Shimano is my #1 choice.

I fish deep 80% of the year if not more. This is not my first blow out.

Still I need a spool. Can someone please help..

Why not get Tyee Slayer to bring your blown up spool back to Tyee Marine and get them to replace it @N/C. They are a warrenty item from Shimano

Because Tyee Marine has no spools. Other wise I would take it there my self as it's just down the road from me.

I still need a spool.

I believe Deep Blue Sales is the rep. group for Shimano in B.C.
call them tomorrow explain to them what going on and see if they can help.[8D]
