Seaequalizer

Good morning fellow fishers;
Purchased a seaequalizer two years ago and used to great success.
This past week my son and myself went offshore to our favorite
Hali hole just off Nootka sound. We unfortunately hooked two
beautiful yellow eyes and as past practice returned to depths
allowing these beauties to survive. However my seaequalizer
did not open when sent down and fish came back up. Adjusted
for depths and still would not open. I am thinking my equalizer
is defective as it cannot be operator error as I have used quite
a number of times previous. Fortunately I placed fish in bucket
and sent down never to see on surface again? Just wondering if
anyone else has experienced this issue as I googled and googled
seems no information from manufacturer is available. As
this is such a great investment in future stocks I will
purchase another as It is such a terrible feeling to see
these beauties helpless.
Thanks

Yes that happened to me this year too, bought it last year and used it many times, tried it this year and was not releasing at depth. The guys at PNT hooked me up with a new one no problem. Seaqualizer rep told them it happens but very rare.

It’s important to rinse them with fresh water when done using them. I also give them the occasional spray of lube in the locking mechanism

been using the wire type for 4 years now... never a problem. just a suggestion.

I suspect I know exactly what is wrong... The pneumatic cylinder head has cracked. When manufactured, there isn't enough plastic material left between the hole for the release pin and the pneumatic cylinder which slides over the fixed piston. It cracks and water now has a path into the air cylinder. I emailed Seaqualizer and they sent me a new one. They are great! I hope they solve this problem. Needs a minor design upgrade.
