Scotty downrigger

My scotty downrigger builds up at the bottom of the spool when I retrieve the ball. It also jumps when it moves up the spool. How do I solve this problem. Thanks

What is a fairlead? The rigger has all of the features as my other downrigger which is working fine.

Try moving the fairlead further up the boom towards the pulley

My fairlead is attached to the pole clamp so it can not be moved. Tried extending the pole but it did not work. My other downrigger is now the same extention but no jumping. Any other suggestions?

Your problem is probably caused by a bend in your downrigger arm.
Just have to live with it or get a new arm

I can not see any bend. But it is an older downrigger.

If you are in the Victoria area just take it out to them and they will fix what ever the issue is. More then likely all for free. If not just phone them and they will talk you though it.

If possible rotate the fairlead upward towards the 2:00 position. Line will spool in the center of the pully
