Scotty Butterflies

I'm guessing many of you remember these, although not available anymore. When you could get the butterflies from Scotty how did you like them?. Just curious as I was going through one of my old boxes, and found about 50 of them, in two unopened bags. I've used them a few times by cutting the top off my hootchie, and slapping them inside it, and a couple times with an anchovie.. I found they give a pretty good action. Anyone know the story why Scotty no longer makes them?

In case you're wondering what this is, the hootchie devil is similar as pictured below.. Gives hoochies, and anchovies an action like an apex but nearly impossible to find now.

Because they decided to stick with their core business and leave tackle making to others.

I found them to be something of a PITA.

You can still get them at Pac Net.....I have a box full of different ones. There's a couple of similar brands too.

Trick is to fish them on as light a line and hook as you can get away with......and run them quite a ways back of the clip.

I wouldn't run them behind a flasher.

They work better fished fast.

They do work on Coho...

Nice!. The one's I have are larger, red, with the big eye on them. May give it a whirl when nothing else is working!.
If you can still get them, that's cool, I just recall being told that Scotty no longer makes them, so likely someone else grabbed the idea!

That is fact

ya,, true, and ive fished with a fork and spoon and caught coho...but do they work on chinnies? or do they dart around to quick?, the ol mans got a few in his box and i like fishsperimenting;)

I can't recall if I have ever caught a nook on one of them but have seen many a weird things in their guts

Used them for coho when I was a deckhand on a troller a long time ago. We also used just a plain black hook/swivel that the owner called black magic and it worked really good.( don't tell D.C Reid apparently fish can't see black hooks)
