Hi folks, travelling down to Los Cabos the last two weeks of January. Just wondering about any info, tips or advice anyone has to offer. Going to stay in San Jose Del Cabo.Planning on fishing for a couple of days. Which city is the air-port located and how far apart are the two cities? Is there a marina in San jose Del Cabo as well as Cabo? Any good charter boat captains one would recommend? Thanks

Don't go with Renegade Mike in Cabo San Lucas

Just ask Sculpin and Firelight

Wife and I fly to San Jose del Cabo on Saturday, plan is to fish with Gordo Banks Pangas on one of the days of our trip. San Jose del Cabo is closer to the new airport that you'll fly into. Cabo San Lucas is a 30 minute drive away. The marina by San Jose del Cabo is in the adjoining town of La Playita little more than a km from downtown San Jose del Cabo. When I get back on the 30th I'll try to remember to post a report of how we make out and my impressions of Gordo Bank Pangas operation. Oh yeah, Gordo Bank, one of the prime fishing locales of the area is directly off shore of the marina, 6 miles out I believe. Just four more sleeps!!

Dennis, was down there feb 2011. booked a trip through ABY charters. the boat was "Marisol II". like felix said, went down there the day before and walked around watching the sights. Skipper spoke enough english to make the day one to remember. booking the day before, rather than in advance, we actually saved money. hotel cooked up a feast for us (17 in party) and the captain looked after the rest of the fish. heading down in Feb and will be going fishing. if not in Cabo, the next week in Los Barilos

I was thinking this too...only afraid that the good captains will be booked up?

Lots of good fishermen around and not everyone is booked all the time.

Also Note that by booking directly with the boat all the dough goes to the boat you cut out bloodsucker agents/bird dogs and hotel vampires.

Was on the water with www.godeepgocabo.com yesterday and have three more days booked with them after Christmas. Hooked up on 4 Marlin and 4 dodos, released all but two dodos. I hire their 31 Blackfin, great boat, five us onboard, they include lunch and 24 cold beer, clean your fish, great bang for your buck as far as I'm concerned, you won't be disappointed.

Speak with Sydney, she is great, let her know I refered you. Have a great trip either way. I am down here till mid March, PM if you need a fishing partner or a cold beer

FT, I also hate seeing dead marlin!

I live up the road in Los barriles for the winter-the airport at cabo is actually just on the outskirts of Jose del cabo-Cabo san lucas is 35 km from the airport. Nice marina at Jose del cabo-I agree with the Gordo banks. Jose is a nice place not so much glitz as cabo -more of the old Baja-water should be warming up-have a great trip. Mike

A few must go to dining experiences in San Jose Del Cabo, are Habaneros, (the owners are from Nanaimo), Cynthia's, Zippers, Dante's (order the ribs), and Guacamaya's. ( inexpensive, and authentic, Mexican Cuisine.)
If you haven't already, arrange for a shuttle to pick you up at the airport. Trying to get a taxi at the airport, means you'll have to sign up for a time share presentation. If you are doing an all inclusive, forget what I've said. :D

Thanks man for the great info. Going to be renting a car. So we can go wherever we want, whenever we want.
