Salt around vancouver?

anyone been out in the past lil while around vancouver? Planning a trip next weekend and just want an idea on whats working gear wise! Any crab around in the area as well? Thanks

Yes. Lots of crabs if you know where to look. The usual areas. Use LOTS of bait.

The usual winter fare are working for lures. Focus on spoons and/or herring strip. Find the bait.

QB, the flats, to Jericho..to the Bell...

or...Tunstall to the Waterfall on the backside of Bowen...fishing should start to pick up big here...

Depths 65 to the bottom.

Army Truck
Glo/Flo
Half Green/Nickel
Half Blue/Nickel
Cop Car

are all spoons which are good bets and staples for the winter fishery. 5.5 to 6 foot leader behind a flasher.

Super Herring Strip on a 6 foot leader.

Hootchies with a short leader...34 inches max.

Be prepared for bigger fish than are usually expected at this time of year. There's lots of bait around and there are mid to high teens found in this area each winter starting about now. Be prepared, Tyees are even found in late Jan/Feb..and they're unexpected and will bust you off if you're lazy with your gear.

Overall, temps should be mild and seas are almost always calm at this time of year so it'll make for easy and peaceful trolling.

Very informative , especially the Spring and summer months , here is a sample of a few reports over the past month , I believe you can go to the website , he might be offering a " Free Trial Period " he use to anyway , Good Guy . when crabbing in the winter months is it best to fish deeper than in the summer? summer i usualy fish 30-50-ft for crabs! thanks
