Sold my prawn traps and bought brand new ones.... Took family out today and watched a brand trap trap go over the side not yet attacked to the line. There goes $100 real quick.


To top it all off barely got enough prawns to make a prawn taco. Good thing the commercial shrimp boat in the harbour had shrimp this evening for sale.

Considering how poor prawning has been and all the closures I should have never bought new traps. Should have just sold the lot and starting bass fishing till they find a commercial market for that to.

Why would I do that? Wasn't their fault. But they are partially responsible for the destruction of our natural resource here in BC.

I have a real good Swedish trap I can sell ya.. it's a real producer...oh snap .. nope I lost that to the commies last year when I got to close to their gear

I did exactly the same thing with a crab pot. what an idiot I felt like as I watched the pot head for the bottom.

that's pretty unfortunate FA. The other day I put all my traps out and was just throwing the last float over the side when I noticed the bait cups still sitting on the seat of the boat. I had to pull them and set them again. Face Palm.

Got 4 traps from a buddy of mine brand new, new rope, new float, last spring, set up off the waterfront. Snapped both the floats off, they hung up something fierce. Sad part was the day I busted them off was the day I went and paid him for them... Expensive prawn season.
