Here's a tip to fix damaged rod corks that you aren't ready to part with.
Take a wine cork and grate it into a coarse sand like particle.
(i used a cheese grater)
Mix it up with white elmer's wood glue into a paste.
Fill the damaged area's with a coffee stir stick.
wait till it drys and sand lightly.
