I've fished R.I. for many years out of Black Gold Lodge at the mouth of the inlet. If you want the BIG tyees, the best time at the mouth is July. If you don't have the patience for big game, i.e., you may not get many bites, then you'll want to go during the last week of July and first 2 weeks of August. During that time period, you'll have chance at the big boys but you at least will catch coho's if you don't find any tyees. If you want the "northerns" coho (20+ lb), then late August and early Sept will be the time to go. My biggest salmon is a 52 lb'er in late July.....
