Ripped off

As the header says, I was ripped off the night before last. After a decade on this property with zero theft problems, I was hit the other night. Despite two swivel base locks and bolted down, plus the Scotty lock on the rigger itself, Both downriggers were stolen. They also got my digi scale (good riddance on the scale) and a tackle box. At retail replacement, it is close to three grand. Insurance should cover part of it, but nowhere all of it.
They best pray that I don't get my hands on them, as the police will only get what I leave them - promise.
Two 60 inch telescoping Scotties, with a few easily identifiable features besides the serial #'s. If anyone notices a pair for sale, I would hope that we can check them out to ensure they are not mine. As tough as the monetary loss is, I am even more interested in nailing the creeps.

Sorry to hear of this, I just put those locks on my riggers, I wondered how secure they would be. I guess they just keep the honest people honest.

Where do you live? I will check some of the sites. You best to keep checking "used" *******

Develop a better lock, along comes a better thief. Develop a better gun , a deader thief.

Develop a better mouse trap ..catch more thieves...catch in the act...well..there ya go...
I've got a real simple alarm system...maybe $20 ...if you have power supply to your boat at home...this works great....
If this gets coons gettin eggs...it will get thieves
any intrest?

Thanks for the kind thoughts guys. To answer questions asked (and unasked), I am in Nanaimo, the scotty locks are a joke (despite the price), and I will be installing better security and removing riggers when I am home. God help these scum if I find them, they'll need it. As far as replacement goes, house insurance will cover about 2/3 (after the deductible) providing I replace with exact items. It will probably take a couple of weeks to complete the process.

In the local paper {Nanaimo} I read that another boat got ripped off. They stole a vhf. Some Dink got into my boat last week and took some small stuff but didn't take my 2 sounders and Merc. DTT scanner or locked-on downriggers.Got to thank my CAT Sqeakey for waking me up so I went outside and looked around.........I must have spooked them in the act and they took-off pronto. My old dog is nearly deaf....time for a new one!!
