What irritates the hell out of me is that the issue of pumps, culverts obstructing fish is not a new one. It goes back decades. There are better ways of getting water out of irrigation ditches and also allowing fry into historic habitat. The big farm lobby has fought DFO tooth and nail to keep the status quo and they have been very successful. With creative thinking, a little give on each side, and money, the problem could be lessened. ( and pray that the idiots in Parliament and the BC Legisture will listen to the likes of Finn Donnely (sp ? ) who has a good feel for what has to be done for our salmon ,trout and steelhead.
