A record number of Pacific salmon were harvested last year by commercial fishers in the U.S., Russia, Japan, Canada and South Korea, with pink salmon providing an overwhelming amount of the abundance.

The vast majority were pinks, and damn few taken by BC fishermen. Fourth lowest commie catch on record. The headline, as usual, is very misleading.

Multitude of factors Large scale hatchery programs (ocean ranching)is just one. Over fishing earlier years commercially, off shore nets by illegal fisheries, low river levels the last couple years among other things.
Back to La Niña this year so hopefully a bit more moisture, lower temps.
