RAFTING RIVERS INLET AUGUST 2025

For those of you who have anchored out at Rivers Inlet, looking for recommendations for an anchorage for a 4 boat raft - 3/30 ft'ers and a 50ft. Stern tie to shore not an issue. I most likely will be fishing out of my 12 ft RHIB so calm / protected water close by would be great but not necessary. I maybe wrong but it looks like Dawsons Landing is the only marina with transient moorage. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ted

I haven't stayed out there but have called Duncanby Lodge before and when I called a couple years ago they allowed transient moorage. Your charts should show anchorage spots around Rivers too.

There are several great anchorage’s in Penrose islands (big fry pan bay) and Ripon Island (sunshine bay). You’d still need to run up to Dawson’s for fuel and supplies, but great places to leave a big boat.

Duncanby hasn't had transient moorage since 2018. Did that once for a few days and let's just say it is no loss that it is not available there anymore.

Lots of anchorages between the mouth of Rivers Inlet and Addenbroke Island. Navionics shows them.

Tough place to anchor out if you want to fish the head. We do it but spots close to the action are scarce. Big changes to the regs up there last year driven by local interests.

Thanks guys for the come backs. I've read thru all my cruising guides, Sailing Directions, and researched the anchorages on both Nobeltec and Navionics. Was hoping for a little been there, done that local Knowledge - this s my favourite anchorage and why.
Brando / Samnjoe - think we want to fish the mouth. More opportunity to run where the fish are - Cranstown , Calvert, etc. Amazed that there are 12 sub-areas to area 9. Might need to make our decision based on what the 2025 Regs are. Thanks again. Ted

There is a decent anchor spot in Goose bay. Also Fury cove is a beautiful bullet proof Anchorage with a nice beach. Supposed to be a marine park but there is a group up there that will tell you that you are not allowed on the beach. Ignore them!

I also read that in 2022, they were discouraging people from anchoring in Fury Cove. Not sure if that is continuing. Goose Bay across from the Cannery looks good as does Sunshine Bay.
