This question came up as I was in Tofino for 10 days....had some family from MB out there first and then some friends came in for the last 4 days to depart at various times.
I know that the Southern Gulf Islands route is 100% reservable (maybe not year round, but in peak season).
Does anyone know about the other major routes between the Island (Nanaimo/Victoria) and the mainland as to what percentage is reservable?
It just came up as one friend had a reservation on New Year's and DID not want to travel on the 2nd although wanted to stay another night. I told her that even though you couldn't reserve they didn't sell out the bigger boats completely. Case in point, I pulled into Departure yesterday fully expecting to wait a sailing but arrived at 2:45 for the ~3:10 sailing and it was NO problem at all getting on.
I have searched HIGH and LOW on BCFerries site and couldn't find an answer; in hindsight I guess I could have asked the Steward on board.
