I have used various plugs and spoons in Quesnel Lake successfully.
Lyman plugs -3" for trout
Lucky Louie plugs 5" for lakers
Wonder spoons up to size 7 for lakers
Apex spoons up to five" for trout and lakers
They can be run off weights for trout, but for the lakers you pretty much need downriggers. Hope that helps, have a good time. Quesnel lake is awesome, enjoy the trip.

Hey Juby.
Sorry about that, just re-read your post and realized you're talking about the Quenell Lake on the Island and smallmouth bass. I was a little slow on the uptake and thought you were talking about the one in the Cariboo.
Try a ratlin rap for the bass or other rappala small minnow imitating plugs.
