Massive predicted return of pink salmon could bolster Island community
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans predicts a median return of 27 million pinks which could mean an opportunity for a large harvest

Mr optimism, lolI am surprised we aren't being told we can't harvest those either.
Mr optimism, lol
But really Nog, sounds about right for most media these days.Someone should inform the author the pinks are RETURNING to the Fraser and other rivers, not currently staging within them to head to sea!
"Right now, somewhere in the Fraser River is a massive school of pink salmon preparing to head to sea, with many potentially bound for Sooke."

He thanked me and said he had edited it.

Scientists find ‘odd’ pattern in killer whale birth, death rates
Fisheries scientists suspect odd-even year fluctuations may have something to do with pink salmonwww.coastreporter.net
I think you may be missing the point of the research - its not that SRKW eat pinks - its they impede SRKW ability to find their preferred prey - ChinookSRKW only eat wild chinook so this won’t help.![]()
