Printing the new tidal licence question

So, at work the printer we have is just black and white, and this i hope isnt a big deal on printing off the licence. when i seen an others licence the salmon stamps is coloured. mine is not.
think this will cause trouble??

It'll be fine in black and white.... though the stamp won't look as pretty.

I just trim mine down. The other option is to scale it down on your printer or photo copier.

I print it with the printer setting on 4 pages per sheet of paper... (1/4 size)

Fold it over a business card and staple it together and it slips nicely into a credit card slot in a wallet... mine hasn't fallen apart all year..

Make sure to carry a fine point pen as the boxes are small!

How easy is it to mark fish on your license?

I just keep mine full size in a pocket of my tackle box I take with me. I fold it up nicely and put it in a ziplock bag to keep water out. This credit card size has me intrigued though. I thought they would want to see it full size. Have you ever been checked and given them a 1/4 size version? I'm pretty sure they ask for it to be on regular paper.

I also was under the impression you were not permitted to shrink it.

At first when they went to this format it pissed me off because I thought it was stupid to have that giant piece of paper but, I folded it up and put it in my wallet and soon forgot about being pissed off. Lol

Corey, I will let you know if they ever call me out on the 1/4 document... have never had to produce a tidal angling license in my life....

If the DFO can't bother to offer paper copy licenses, maybe they shouldn't dictate what size we print it on...

If we can't shrink it, why is it 3x the size of the old licenses?

At 1/4 size it lives in my wallet all year and is never forgotten on land. At full size it gets transferred from place to place because it takes up so much damn space and was occasionally forgotten on land.

IMHO the 1/4 size is the lesser of evils.

After re-reading this I feel like a grouch... lol

I print mine 1/4 size as well, fold it twice and slide it in with my cards. Done it this way since online licensing started.
I been checked many of times and the officer has never had a problem with it.
Here it is on top of a card. It nice and small

The business card trick works awesome... staple it to a business card... doesn't have to be your own, just take one from the bank or something.... gives it some backing to protect it, makes for easy sliding in and out of a card slot, it can't fall out when you pull out another card, and it makes it easy to write on.

Thanks guys, that is some good info. I can't stand carrying a thick wallet so I'm a bit obsessive with this. And since I fish from at least three or four different boats in a season, the licence really does need to be on my person or it'll be forgotten on that one occasion when I'm checked.

Along the same wallet-reducing kick, has anyone tried card-storage apps like Stocard or Beep Beep Go? All those loyalty cards for supermarkets, hotel chains, gas stations etc, can be scanned into your smartphone and you no longer need to carry the physical card. I've had Stocard for a few months now and it works well every time I'm asked for Air Miles card and so on. The wallet is down to 5 cards only: business bank card, personal bank card, business credit card, drivers licence and commercial gas card (still uses mag stripe swipe).Now I can sit on my wallet without so much kink in my back I need a weekly chiropractor visit.

I hate this printing printing your own license out. there is nothing to stop some one from printing multiple licenses out

Yeah it doesn't make sense. You can easily fake a copy of one. And when I've been checked, they just wanted to see that we had our licenses on us. They could care less what it said on them.

I also hate my PAL. The card in the wallet is fine, but you actually have to carry the piece of paper as well or else its not valid. Whats the point of the card if we need the paper too? What happens after a year when there's no ink left on that paper?

When it was paper licences sold in brick n mortar stores, you had to show ID to buy licence. Now anyone can pretend to be anyone as far as fishing licence is concerned.
