As like all fisherman im cheaper then cheap
And am currently building a prawn puller
I have my aluminum for the frame
And an atv winch

Hardest part is the big wheel
Ive looked around at recycle stores ect. For something that would work

Aceline will sell me the wheel
Is there something that i have overlooked

Comeon guys lets brainstorm!!

Two pizza pans back to back is what a lot of DIY guys use. Food for thought. Pun intended. I have used old Scotty manual downrigger spools in the past. There is a thread in here somewhere with pictures of 1 of 3 or 4 that we have built in the past using the Costco ATV winches like you are.

Apparently I'm pretty "green" around here so take it for what it is worth LOL!

Cheers,
Sculpin

Found pulleys at acklands now its gonna be difficult to attacth to the winch
Has a gear that goes into the winch and it part of the spool

I used a wheel chair motor from eBay it was $60, and came with a 4 bolt flange on its output shaft. For the pulley I used stove element covers from Walmart, they're stainless and were $6 for a 4 pack. I've since gone to an Ace for space savings after some other mods so I'll be selling my home made one.
