Hi Tony ! take a gander at the top right side of the page and you will aee a search button , go to that and look for Porlier Pass information there is lots in the past and after you have read that then you can ask away in specifics for the spot.
What size boat do you have and have you ever been to the Pass before ?
if not go out with someone who has local knowledge of the waters as it is not a good spot for a novice to go.

Al just bought a 21' trophy hard top, did a search on Porlier and it seems to me that you feed seals, would tent isl. be a better place to go? [:I]

Thank-you
Tony

Thank's doc, we will try on Saturday, being new could you tell me roughly where to start, depth and what to use or ant other info that might help

Thank-you
Tony [8D]

Start just south of the pass and fish along Galiano. Fish contour lines from 100 feet out. Fish could be anywhere and suspended in the water column. Try 20 feet off bottom in shallower waters and between 80 and 160 feet in deeper waters. I like to use coyote spoons in green or cop car colors.

Thank-you, my son is coming over friday and would love to get him a salmon, went and bought flashers and coyote spoons,i have read that leader lenth is about 6' should i build longer and shorter leaders as well? i also have some prawn traps, 400ft of line for both, is there any spots out there where you have mentioned to fish to set the traps if so what depth do you set them at.
If you will be out on Saturday i will be be on VHF channel 68

Thank-you

Thank God It Floats :D

6 foot leaders are fine but no longer.
Never prawned out there before but see commercial traps in the same area where you'll be fishing just where it really starts to drop off but not sure what the depth is there but suspect it is deeper than 400'.
You should have an excellent shot at a salmon right now.
Don't know if I can make it this weekend (might be sailing) but I'll head out there if I'm around.
Good luck and let me know how you made out.
