Point Wilson darts

This last week a friend and I fished with the Canadian Princess Resorts in Uke. We fished Friday and Saturday.

If you haven't heard about the "pukers" as they are refered to, the Resort has about ten boats 45-50 feet long, and they fish with in our case 17 guests. There is a guest every six feet along the side, and everyone uses the exact same setup, a 8'6" rod with a basic Shimano reel and ... a Point Wilson dart, 4oz. green and pearl. Everyone, (over 150 guests) does the same thing, drop to the bottom and jig.

It sounds overly basic, but the boat limited on Friday with 17 small Halibut, and was one fish short of spring limits. On Saturday there were only 3 Halibuts landed, but again we limited on springs, up to 20lbs.

It was a pain fishing, and landing fish, as there were lots of minor tangles, but the fishing was surely productive.

My question: Who knows where I can find these lures. I have phoned around (southern Vancouver Island) and looked online. I find very limited opportunities to buy this lure.

Can anyone offer assistance?

In the same spots or others like it.... anything that even looks the same, you'll do fine;)

Search online and have them shipped to your door. One place to check is Johns sporting goods in Everett WA., he has them and sells online. Good Luck, Osprey

I've had great success with Point Wilson Darts over the years.

Bottomfish seem to love them, and I have seen them outfish bait on a number of occaisions.

The green/yellow one and the all white ones seem to work best.

I haven't tried jigging for Salmon with them, but I don't see why they would not work well as indicated in the original post above.

Great lures.

Another place that will ship to you is Ted's Sport Center in Lynnwood, WA. http://www.tedssportscenter.com/ Ask for Mike and just tell him what you're looking for.

Are you sure they were not Magic lure jigs? I know that they were supplying them this year? These are great jigs out of Port Alberni
:)

Thanks for the places to check in Washnigton and Cambell River. You guys are right I think, Canadian Princess Charters is reverting back to Magic Lures after they use up their Darts. I was told by the chief skipper that the Magic Lures were cheaper, and the switch was to save money.

When I looked at the Point Wilson darts, the level of finish was much better than any other lure I have had before. It looked like it had several coats of clear coat on it, and the color really had depth.

The fact that we had so much salmon action really caught my attention. It two days our boat landed almost 70 salmon with the same colored lure. It really challenges my thinking about the requirement for just the right color or shape of lure, and in turn makes me think it is much more important to find the right location and depth to catch a fish.

Thanks again.
