Point 1 vs Point 1 AP

I would appreciate if anyone can give me some advice on GPS/heading sensor.

I have a Simrad Go9 with Halo 20 radar, and would like to overlay radar onto chart.

I've combed the online world and got many opinions. Some say I'd need Simrad GS25 or Lowrance Point 1 (not AP) and others say Point 1 AP should be fine.

Has anyone used Point 1 AP for overlaying radar onto chart with Simrad or other Navico system? If so, does it work ok?

Yes, I've used the point 1 AP for overlay. It usually comes with the autopilot and replaced the point 1 I had originally.

Point 1 is fine. I run autopilot and overlay on mine. No issues at all.

I have a Lowrance Point 1 running off a Simrad NSS Evo3 head unit with a Lowrance 3G radar - all works well.

I'm moving ahead. Next step is to set up a NMEA2000 network.

point 1 is magnetic. which is a huge annoyance to some (mainly, me). youre better off with a DGPS unit like a Hs75 - https://www.simrad-yachting.com/simrad/type/compasses/compasshs75-gnss/

I should have mentioned I also have a digital heading compass for use with my radar. NMEA2000 network are fairly easy to set up. Lots of info and videos on the interweb.
