Plugs

Finally

Hey guys, I will be going up to Telegraph Cove in a couple weeks and was wondering if it would be worthwhile to try out some plugs as a change up from the old flasher combos. I have never used plugs before so i am not sure what patterns to try. Anybody have any success with plugs up in that area? I will also be fishing in sooke early august. Thanks

I havent fished them much up here, but when I have, I havent had much luck. I love to use them on the westside, but in the telegraph, McNeill area i stick to bait..

Good luck!

from a Gooeybob post in 2006:

"Been years since I guided there, but if memory serves me correctly:
Chinook:
- Flower Island & the West side of Swanson Is.; Cracroft Point & "The Wall" on the opposite side of Baronet Passage from Cracroft; Red Point; Whitebeach Point; Donegal Head; Bold Head. Typically I'd fish whole herring or cut plug or Lyman Plugs at 30 to 60 ft. "

the 500 and 602 produced some nice springs for me when i worked at a fishing lodge up there a couple years ago...but there better on for later in july and early august especially the tubby style

Honestly, for up that way, stick with green/white hoochies or bait. Boring, but deadly. I love spoons, and I love fishing up there. But when I fish up there, all my fish are on rubbers or meat.

Mind you, I don't have much experience plugging.

When I fished at a lodge I pulled tubby 602, Could not miss ,To Easey.Guest loved it.That was Nights And Kingcom. All summer long.Best fishing ever had.Makes me want to go .
