When I fished commercially, we ran plugs with these, and plugs with the pins removed.
There was no discernible difference in the catch rate between the two.

That's interesting with the bump. I've always wondered if having squared off or kinked rings would create more random action.

Thanks. I was thinking that it was that piece but wasn’t positive.
I recently got some Tomics from a retired commercial guy that have these.
 
I remember you alluded to some top secret paint jobs for the troller a number of years ago.
Salmon candy and many other recipes are always much appreciated, but a pic would be the cat's butt.

Yeah, that was my main go-to and it oufished anything else we had on the boat.
I may have one or two left that do not have the paint literally beaten right off of them.
Will have a look when I can get to the back end of the shed where the plugs are stored and letcha know.
Complicated pattern, but well worth the effort IMO.
