Commercial Troll: Hootchies and spoons. We carry a
HUGE selection of both on-board at all times. This allows us to "
match the hatch" and of course water conditions in pretty well any circumstances we encounter.
Guiding: Spoons, plugs, then hootchies, then bait - in that order.
Where I fish out of Ukee, bait is but rarely required. I don't really like the muss and fuss associated with bait, and have found that spoons and/or plugs will generally perform at least as well. Of course attention to the menu of the day, and what the water is like is
The Key to success. Greatly prefer running the ol' 7 inch Tomics at full roar when the mature pilchards are around! Most of the smaller fish seem intimidated by the size of them, but the Biggies recognize a free lunch! Gotta love that slam on the plug, and the battle with a
Large with no blade in-between you and the fish!
Cheers,
Nog
