Pelicans

Who has seen pelicans lately? Notice some on Sooke winter chinook thread. One dropped in to visit the Esquimalt Anglers' ramp
a couple days ago. Only stayed a half hour - just long enough to ingest a couple baitfish before leaving.

Obviously me (from the Sooke thread). Two at cheanuh today.

A lot bigger and uglier than I would have imagined.

I have seen a half dozen this year with yesterday being the most recent! Pretty cool.

I fought a double header in the channel by lamb island a couple Novembers back. I watched 2 pelicans fly by in the snow. How is that for a sight.

I saw a solitary brown pelican fly by Whirl Bay last Tuesday. Was surprised to see it so late in the year.

Beauty is not only seen through a mother's eye...

Seeing the two Pelicans on such a fine day made me think of down south, without having to go there.

I'm sure they could give one of those eagles in the Bay a fishing lesson ;)

I saw lots at Renfrew this summer, and in past summers. I didn't know they hung around this late in the season, though.

I would prefer the touristas feed the pelicans instead of the seals at Fisherman's Warf

I heard a rumor one of those big storms a few weeks ago may have blown them down. I would think they would just hunker down during a storm and not move. Anyways thats one theory I heard.
