So...all 3 of the Peetz alarm clocks in my family have stopped working.
The internals are no longer available.
My clock was ACTUALLY used to wake me up, not as decoration.
I have simply added a clock mechanism from Leigh Valley or wherever to one, and now it is a nice clock.
Suppose I will have to do that with the 2 other dead clocks.
For several months I have been pondering if it would be possible to recreate the wake up call of the Peetz alarm clock on my smartphone.
Finally realized that Google is my friend and did some searching for creating custom sounds on Android phones.
There was a learning curve on things such as adjusting microphone input levels etc, but in about an hour I was driving my family nuts with my sweet new alarm!!!
Step-by-step
1) record your Peetz reel peeling line out however you wish.
Do this with the windows OEM sound recorder using headphones plugged into your computer's microphone input
If you PM me, I will send you my recording gratis
2) when you have a fish on sound you like, copy it from your computer onto your microSD card in the Alarm directory of your phone
3) go into your phone's alarm settings and choose the new mp3 file that you put in there. I called my mp3 file Peetz wood 5inch.
4) enjoy!
*it is easier to do the recording with 2 people since humans only have 2 arms each, however my second mate was busy cooking a coho fillet, so it took me 16 tries to make a decent recording
I thought about recording other mp3 files such as: Peetz wood 4inch, Peetz wood 6inch recorder, and even to be really modern (all the way into the year 2000 lol) Peetz SS 5inch.
Yet another brilliant idea of mine that has no doubt already been done, and will never make me enough money to buy my dream boat ;-)
I have no idea how iPhone users would do this, sorry.
Hope some of you out there will find this enjoyable.
