Past Hacking of This Site

I have been asked to reassure all members that NO Data on this site was compramised or copied. The only thing they did was change things on the forum pages and out going mail tag so there hacker name was ovious. It is very much the same as paint bomb taggers.... They do this to show that they can breach the security of sites. We have already made changes and will be focusing on even better security as this site evolves over the next few months.

Best Regards

Thanks for this, MyEscape, very relieved someone was able to get ahold of the owners finally.

Kev, this site is NOTICEABLY slower since the hack, I think we all notice that and it's bloody frustrating. I don't want to be negative but my sense is that more was done than defacing some pages. I worked at a place where a web server was hacked once. In the beginning it looked like it was easy to scrub all the dirt they left behind but over time it was discovered that the damage was much deeper than we anticipated.

In the end, after weeks of trying to hand pick out all the damaged bits and set it right, we made the decision to reformat the machine and start from scratch because we just weren't really sure all that was touched. To eliminate risk to our data in the future, we opted to go the way we did and became more diligent in applying the necessary patches and upgrades as they became available to plug any known security holes that allow hackers in.

Is it just me or does this site only respond about 5 out of 10 times you try to access it. Been like that for months.

The forum's been slow for quite a while, well before this hacking from what I recall.

Seems pretty random, sometimes it's fine, but other times pretty slow to get going.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering about some of these things. Mike
