Outboards “making” oil

Have been running a number of Suzuki 140’s commercially for years.Replace them every few years.
Always meticulous with break ins and maintenance but they all seem to start to make oil around the 500-700hr.
Recently swapped out Tstats from 60F to 71F, and it’s fixed!!!
Maybe this is common knowledge for some, but I was very happy to stumble on this fix!
 
My T25 kicker, has been making oil since new. Yamaha doesn’t make a hotter thermostat, unfortunately. I believe this causes carbon to build up, inside the combustion chamber. Dealers’s only suggestion is “Ring Free”. It’s supposed to burn off the carbon and free up the rings.

My new to me 300 does the same, haven’t tried new thermostat, so far this year making very little, but still making some, ( fuel in the oil)) boys at Sherwood told me too much idle time, just run it like I stole it,been doing just that and seem to solve the problem a bit, I change the oil and filter at 50-60 hr instead of 100-120 . When I purchase the motor it had 980 hrs with 800hrs at idle, owner was trolling with it( twins) so ran some ring free, and still do every couple tanks
 
I run a Suzuki 140, also. Swapped out thermostat two years ago. Problem solved. Now I need to do the same with the Yamaha 9.9 kicker.
I try to get 5-10 minutes at WOT on the way home, every trip. I think this helps too.
