Outboard purchase lower mainland vs the US.

Any good Marine dealers with good outboard prices in the Vancouver area? Or just be done with it and purchase in the US? Looking for a 20HP Suzuki or Yamaha.

Far more with exchange in the US. Just did a repower and checked prices. 10% cheaper but 30% more with exchange. Saved almost $18k.

I’m not following you. Sorry.

To be clear, I live in the US, but my better half is Canadian. I’m looking to buy a 20HP outboard and was wondering if the current exchange would be advantageous or not. If the price is based on USD I can’t see how it would be, plus taxes which usually make buying in CA worse.

When I do searches from here prices are mostly in USD and they’re about the same or a bit more, hence the question about good dealers so I could call and get the out the door price.

Thanks,

Try Maple Marine in Langley

Galleon Marine had some good prices on Yamaha’s during/after the boat show, ended up being a lot better pricing over what Tom n’ Jerry’s was offering during the Seattle show.

About 37% cheaper in Vancouver after taxes and exchange. For the 25hp I just ordered.

Thanks guys, sounds like I need to look up there. I was just up there and can’t believe I didn’t stop by a few stores.

Presumably you have a brand preference? Maple Marine is Suzuki/ Tohatsu. Inlet Marine is Mercury. Galleon Marine is Yamaha.

Give them a call.

Yes, Suzuki or Tohatsu, I was reading on this forum that some warranties (Yamaha) don't cross the border when purchased abroad which is weird.

A certain dealer in the South Island is already starting to use them to say that’s why their boats in stock are more expensive than the boat show sticker they still have on them.
So they're raising their prices and passing it on to CA residents?

Nick at Maple Marine gave me a good quote on the Tohatsu 20hp and let me know that Suzuki warranty doesn’t transfer across the border. Good info! Tohas, non issue.

Thanks

If I fly up in May, I will purchase locally. If I drive, I will probably buy here in CO.

If anyone wants to talk bears, Vancouver Island, let me know. ha!
