Outboard Grease

Doe's it really matter when greaseing the outboard if you use good auto or should it always be marine grease

marine grease and DONT use white ato grease with sun and salt water it crystalizes up bad shiat i like the merc I thik its 2-4-c with teflon use it for almoat everything comes in a tube last me about 5 years or more LOL

Agree with above - Marine grease, Mercury or Evinrude are most commonly available.
It does make a difference, although I'm not sure what the difference in the composition is.
Supposedly added water repellency, perhaps thicker (or thinner) consistency.

Do not, however, use it on the trailer for things like wheel bearings.
They run hotter than the marine grease is designed for.

I've gone over to having two grease guns.
One loaded for the motor etc., and the other with bearing grease for the trailer.
