Otters in Lewis Channel

Was out fishing yesterday and i observed what i thought was a seal until it rolled over on its back and started bashing open a shell fish. I know they’ve been slowly making their way around the horn and down ECVI but this is the farthest south i have personally observed otters.
Not good.

Otters seemed to have made a huge recovery since the fur hunting days. They are all over the south V.I. coastline.

lets remember with the comeback of the otter, then the urchins get balanced, which would hopefully help kelp recovery, like it used to be.

I have witnessed Otters 4-6 nm off the WCVI in over 160' of water...
I guess depth is a relative thing for them??

they can be out that far but max diving from I have seen is 100'-120', get passed that and crabbies still do aight.
