My uncle holding a 60lb+ spring on the thaltan River over 30 years ago. And my dad behind the Grage holding a similar sized spring ugly looking fish being on ice for a week before we got home. Those were the days. I remember my dad hooked a monster we never seen after a long battle it broke off after it’s massive tail came down on the line. There was skid marks all over the gravel bar from his boot heels where it pulled him down stream.

Well back in the day I was fishing in the U.K. and salmon and trout (game fishing) was waaay beyond my means in a class divided society. So carp were the biggest fish I could chase in freshwater and here is a pic of a small, but very fat, 10lb carp held by a still handsome and young me in 1978. LOL!! :)

Caught these from a 12 ft lund in the late 80's, many of the boats fishing in the same waters as us had life rafts or sport boats on deck much bigger then our fishing boat but we usually braved rougher waters then they did to get our fish.
