Old Cannon Balls

Call it luck but I haven’t lost a cannon ball in 3 years... Net result is I have several 15 lb balls all banged up, some with some corrosion. I can’t see these balls (most with fins) tracking through the water smoothly.

How about others, do you replace your cannon balls when they get to this state?

Just melt them down and they will be all shiny again

None of mine got old when I was using steel line. Mine are also 3 years old now on braid. I also regularly drag them and they're beat to hell.

Paint them to avoid corrosion - corrosion is a sign of electrolysis which generates a voltage than might repel (or attract) fish. As for the dents, I'd do some gentle hammering.
